Ditto and Qualcomm Technologies Demonstrate Resilient Tactical-Edge Data at AUSA 2026
Ditto Propagate and Edge Sync kept missiondata synchronized across disconnected networks on commercial Android devices
WASHINGTON--OCTOBER 23, 2026 --Ditto, thedata platform for unstoppable operations, today announced that QualcommTechnologies, Inc., through its Qualcomm Government Technologies (QGOV) division, used Ditto Propagate and the Ditto Edge Sync applications as the SoftwareDefined Network and Assured Data Layer in its tactical-edge demonstration atAUSA 2026, held October 12-14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
In the demonstration,Propagate bridged disparate waveforms and fielded tactical radios on COTSAndroid devices. This included: when reach back was lost, applications andoperators kept synchronizing peer-to-peer, then reconnected to the server orcloud when the link returned. Integrations with ATAK and other tacticalplatforms also maintained a shared operational picture across disconnected andcontested networks.
Ditto Propagate turnsa commercial Android device into a tactical edge network hub, routing dataacross multiple radio interfaces at once with no custom hardware, OSmodification, or root access. Ditto Edge Sync enables devices to synchronizedirectly with one another, reconcile conflicting edits automatically and keepthe operational picture intact when communications are jammed or severed.Together, these commercial Android applications enable the 3+ billion Androidphones and tablets in global circulation to form resilient data layers for DDILenvironments, where the hub-and-spoke architectures behind most battlefielddata layers break down.
“Hub-and-spokearchitectures will not survive first contact with our adversaries,” said EricHanft, SVP for Public Sector at Ditto. “The tactical edge data layer has towork in near-peer conflict, where data servers are an obvious target in the eraof data-driven operations. The combination of our combat-proven software withQualcomm’s frontier transport technologies creates a new edge networkarchitecture that is hard to disrupt.”
“The future tacticalnetwork will depend on resilient, adaptable platforms that rapidly integratedual-use innovation with fielded systems,” said Ken Davis, VP for GlobalDefense Business Development at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “This demonstrationshowed how Qualcomm’s leadership in advanced wireless connectivity,high-performance edge computing and on-device AI can help dual-use commercialdevices and tactical radios operate as an integrated ecosystem through Ditto Propagateand Edge Sync. By combining resilient connectivity with edge AI, we can processdata and deliver decision support closer to the point of need—even when reachback is limited or denied. Just as important, these capabilities must scaleeconomically across formations, missions and partner forces. Leveragingcommercially proven technologies and global ecosystems can reduce the cost andcomplexity of deployment, sustain rapid technology refresh and make advancedcapabilities available beyond a small number of specialized units. Thisdual-use approach can accelerate the delivery of interoperable capabilities andgive warfighters the connectivity, data continuity and actionable intelligencethey need in contested environments.”
The demonstration follows a year of militaryadoption. USSOCOM awarded Ditto a $17 million APFIT contract to field the DittoMission Fabric across SOCOM for real-time data sharing between humans andautonomous systems. The U.S. Marine Corps began evaluating Ditto in July as thedata layer for Project Dynamis’ Assured Command and Control pillar, and theArmy’s Program Manager Unmanned Aerial Systems contracted Propagate for dronesensor data distribution. Ditto also holds a Defense Innovation Unit success memofor maritime collaborative autonomy. Each service came to the same commercialplatform independently to solve the same DDIL problem.
Ditto qualifies as a commercially availableoff-the-shelf solution under Executive Order 14271, which directs federalagencies to prioritize proven commercial products. The platform that runsmission-critical operations for major commercial enterprises is now beingfielded and evaluated across the services.
